Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period like this with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
