NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage includes live text for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , following recent talk about two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.
Notable during those contests were the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the final quarter versus Denver, set to play in London this Sunday.
However it proved positive to see that Denver quarterback the rookie managed to have that deficit and then direct three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the victory 21-17.
Denver have the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver won that battle.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing extra defenders but they could position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then drop them out and send a nickel from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program that Denver might emerge as this season's dark horses. They finished the previous year well then excelled of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has excelled significantly while recent running back their rusher is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows that Denver represent a team that wants to run first, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in favourable down and distances.
It's also helped quarterback the young passer, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass all over, but they lack the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, which is different, and he's highly agile.
His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as using varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver precision throws across the middle or past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of poise under pressure and is not really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and is able pass in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and is quick to decide.
When you consistently run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the defence to be on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the area downfield and horizontally. This proves draining.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and I think Payton likes that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up how he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
The head coach has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB helps shape him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a good place to hold their division. The key is to continue this path.
They excel at leaning into their strength, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win any game.
Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, which is surprising when you think that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.
Following this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.
It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
