Lawmakers Release Newest Set of Epstein Photos as DOJ Deadline Approaches

The Congressional oversight panel has released a collection of roughly 70 images from the estate of late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

This constitutes the latest in a series of release from a cache of more than 95,000 images the body has secured from Epstein's property. It contains photographs of excerpts from the novel Lolita scrawled across a female's body, and obscured images of women's foreign passports.

This disclosure occurs mere hours before the 19 December cut-off for the Justice Department to make public each records associated with its investigation into Epstein.

"These new photos bring up additional queries about exactly what the Justice Department has in its possession," stated the Democratic lead of the committee, Robert Garcia.

What is in the Photos Released

Several of the photos released on this week depict Epstein speaking with professor and activist Noam Chomsky inside a personal aircraft; Bill Gates seen next to a woman whose features is redacted; Steve Bannon sitting at a table facing Epstein, and former Alphabet president Sergey Brin at a evening meal.

These are the newest wealthy, prominent figures to be photographed in Epstein estate photographs released by the oversight panel - earlier released images also include US President Donald Trump and past president Bill Clinton, as well as film director Woody Allen, previous US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, counsel Alan Dershowitz, Andrew Mountbatton-Windsor, and additional individuals.

Being pictured in the images is is not considered indication of any illegal activity, and many of the pictured men have asserted they were never involved in Epstein's criminal activity.

In a statement accompanying the photo publication, Democrats on the US House Oversight Committee said the Epstein estate's representatives did not offer context or timings for the images.

"Images were picked to provide the general populace with clarity into a typical cross-section of the photographs received from the estate, and to provide perspectives into Epstein's circle and his extremely disturbing actions," the statement states.

The disclosure also features multiple photos of passages from the Vladimir Nabokov novel Lolita inscribed in black ink across different parts of a woman's body, including her torso, feet, hip, and spine. Lolita narrates the tale of a young girl who was exploited by a older literature professor.

A particular quote from the book written across a woman's upper body states, "Lo-lee-ta: the end of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the mouth to land, at three, on the teeth".

There are also a number of photographs of women's passports and official papers from countries worldwide, such as Lithuania, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.

Most of the data on the documents, including names and dates of birth, is censored but the panel indicated in a statement that the travel documents belong to "females whom Jeffrey Epstein and his conspirators were involved with".

An additional photograph features Epstein sitting at a workstation in close proximity surrounded by three women whose features have been redacted - one has her palm on Epstein's chest under his shirt, and another is crouching to view a nearby computer. Epstein seems to be helping the third attach a piece of jewelry.

An additional photo disclosed is a capture of digital messages from an unnamed person who says they have been sent "some girls" and are demanding "$1000 per girl".

Photograph Publication Occurs Prior to DOJ Due Date

The panel has many thousands of photographs in its custody from the Epstein property, which are "at once disturbing and mundane," its statement on this week noted.

The Congressional committee first legally compelled the property of Epstein, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on allegations of sex trafficking, in August.

The images and records the Epstein estate submitted to the body are separate from what is commonly referred to "Epstein-related records". That material are records within the Department of Justice's possession associated with its separate probe into Epstein.

In accordance with the recently passed law, which the President made law last month, the DOJ has until the date of 19 December to publish its files. The scope of what is contained in the DOJ's records is unknown, and it's probable that a large amount of the material will be heavily censored, comparable to Congressional documents
